EXPERIENCE DAIRY FARMING

Are you curious to learn about cows and dairy farming? Come to Periyar Farms. You can have hands-on experience with cows and other activities happening in the dairy farm. It is an experience you will always relish.

  • INTERACTIVE SESSION
    We will have a brief interactive session to understand the basics of cows, such as types of cows, lifecycle, maintenance, feeding, health care, products, etc.
  • GUIDED TOUR
    We will walk you around the farm and visit each cow and calf to understand the different features of cows, milking, reproduction, maintenance, and many other topics.
  • BASICS OF COW LIFECYCLE
    We will have an in depth discussion and live demonstration of cow’s life cycle from baby (calf), heifer, pregnancy, delivery, milking, old age, etc.
  • FEED COWS
    You will have an opportunity to feed cows and calves. We will have some fodder, vegetables or fruits available. You will get the joy of feeding cows.
  • PET CALVES
    Being with cows gives you real pleasure and experience that you can relish forever. It also generates positive vibration and happiness
  • ORGANIC FARMING
    We will discuss how cows by-products such as gomutra (cow urine) and cow dung play a vital role in organic farming. We will also discuss basic organic farming.

FACILITIES AVAILABLE

    We have parking space inside the farm for cars and two-wheelers. School buses can be parked out side the farm.
  • WASHROOM & TOILET
    We have a decent sized washroom and toilet with enough water for emergency use.
  • WATER
    We have enough water for all the basic needs both for daytime visitors and for people who will stay overnight.
  • ROOM TO STAY
    For those who like to stay on the farm, we have a few premium category room with a bed, attached kitchen, and electricity.

FAQ

  • When can I visit your farm?
    You can visit any day of the week between morning 10am to evening 6pm.
  • Do I need an appointment to visit farm?
    For regular visits, there is no appointment required. For institutional visits, prior appointment is required.
  • We are an educational institution. What’s the process for farm visit?
    Please contact our customer care manager at +91-8943354649 and setup an appointment. You are also advised to register here and inform us. We need minimum 4 days advance notice to prepare for institutional farm visits.
  • Will there be someone in the farm to guide?
    For institutional visits, there will be a professional who will be conducting the farm visit session. Regular visitors can come directly. There will be an employee who is working in the farm. He will help answer questions.
  • Can I stay in the farm?
    Yes, farm stay facility is available.
  • How many people stay in the farm?
    Two adults can easily stay in one room. One or two additional children can also stay in single room. We have a total 10 rooms at the farm.
  • What are the facilities available in the farm?
    Premier rooms along with all facilities are available
  • Can I work in the farm for few days?
    Yes, you can stay in the farm and get yourself involved in all the activities. You can work along with the cow care taker. He can teach you basic skills required to work in the farm.
  • What are all the activities I can get involved?
    Cut and feed grass for cows, wash cows, clean cow shed, give water to cows, etc.
  • How about food while staying in the farm?
    All facilities are available at the farm
  • Can we purchase products in the farm?
    You can buy gomutra, fresh cow dung, compost manure and sun dried cow dung cakes. If you want other dairy products such as milk, curd, paneer, ghee etc. you need to go to the plant. See contact section for plant location.
  • Can I get fresh cow urine (Gomutra) and cow dung from the farm?
    If you’re an organic farmer and need cow urine and fresh cow dung, you can come to the farm and collect. There is a minimal charge for them.
  • I need to prepare medicine with cow products. Can I do it in the farm?
    Yes, you can do it at the farm. We can provide you with basic ingredients required for making medicine, such as milk, curd, ghee, gomutra and cow dung.
  • Do I need to pay for farm visit?
    For day time visitors, there is a nominal fee. For institutional visits, please contact customer care manager at +91-8943354649 . If you are staying in the farm, you can donate for cows as you wish.
